Sized deliberately small: One day, not two. Fittonia collapses quickly once the root ball goes fully dry, so the step is conservative. If day 4 readings keep coming back damp, move to 5.

Observed: Leaves fully turgid and glossy, no wilting, no edge crisping, no drooping. Venation strong pink to red against green across the whole plant. No powdery mildew, no pests, no leaf spotting. A clear recovery from the 07-26 faint after repotting.

Top inch dry per the finger-test cue, four days after the last watering (2026-08-09) – watered. Bottom half still damp.

Observed: Moisture meter read moist at the bottom, dry through the top half – top-inch-dry-but-layer-below-damp, the same finger-test signal previously logged as the point to water. This is day 4 since the last watering (2026-08-05), after skipping the scheduled day-3 watering on 2026-08-08 for being too moist.

Done: Watered rather than skipping again, since she should never be let fully dry.

Watch: Second reading in a row suggesting the true interval runs closer to 4 days than the current 3 – not yet two clean instances of "damp at the scheduled day," so wateringIntervalDays stays at 3 for now. Revisit if the next cycle also lands right at day 4.

Due for watering today, but soil probe read moist and pot was heavy – skipped. This is the second reading in a row at or before the scheduled interval showing more moisture than expected (previous two waterings were logged dry, prompting a proposed shorten to a 2-day interval). This damp reading pulls the other way; holding off on any interval change until more data comes in.

Soil was dry throughout, not just at the surface. Top watered, then left sitting in the saucer for about 30 minutes to soak further before draining and returning to her spot.

Soil was almost completely dry, just slightly damp at the bottom. Watered thoroughly all around until water ran out of the drainage holes, let sit in bowl for ~40 minutes, then drained completely and returned to spot. Looking good overall. Leaves damaged from the store are still showing, considering pruning them.

Taken out of ziplock. Now misted multiple times a day with distilled water + pebble tray for ambient humidity.

Watering on finger-test method (water when top inch dry, layer below still slightly damp).

Repotted into fern mix. Fainted (dramatic wilt) from the disruption – classic Fittonia stress response.

Placed in a humid ziplock bag for ~1 day to recover. Came back fine after the humid recovery period.

Acquired alongside Haworthia "Greg". Kept in original pot while settling.
