First watering since repot
First watering since the 2026-08-09 repot, four days after potting dry. Bottom-soaked, then a pipette top-up on the surface grit. Distilled water.
Repotted into 10cm terracotta with 1:2:1:1 mineral mix
Observed: Roots fine and evenly spread, dry and firm throughout - no dark or mushy sections. Soil was bone dry, likely a while since the last watering, so no wash needed - clean already.
Mix: 1 part Gardners cactus substrate : 2 parts pumice 3-7mm : 1 part lava 3-5mm : 1 part zeolite 1-2.5mm, roughly 80% mineral grit.
Done: Potted dry into 10cm terracotta. No water on potting day. Holding 3-4 days before the first bottom-soak, same as the other two from this batch. Tallest head is centered in the pot; the rest of the offset cluster sits off to one side rather than evenly spaced. Hoping for new pups to fill in the barer side over time.
Acquired - clustering with multiple offsets, mix designed
Acquired today from the same Obi Letnany run as the Echinopsis and the Mammillaria plumosa. Currently in an 8.5cm nursery pot, soil not yet inspected. Clustering habit with several offsets already forming. No pet name yet. Target pot for the repot is 10cm terracotta.
Mix (per 10cm terracotta pot):
- Gardners cactus substrate - 1 part (~0.1L)
- Pumice 3-7mm - 2 parts (~0.2L)
- Lava 3-5mm - 1 part (~0.1L)
- Zeolite 1-2.5mm - 1 part (~0.1L)
~80% mineral grit, matching the 70-80% Mammillaria genus norm confirmed for this species. ~0.5L total.
Repot on hold until zeolite is acquired - planned for Monday, or sooner if found tomorrow, same as the other two.
